Decree NoDecree No. 2.119, of 13 January 1997 Regulates the Pilot Project for the Protection of Tropical Forests in Brazil and its Coordination Committee, and establishes other measures. The President of the Republic, by virtue of the authority vested therein pursuant to article 84, section IV of the Constitution decrees the following: Art. 1. The Pilot Project for the Protection of Tropical Forests in Brazil and its Coordination Committee, established pursuant to Decree No. 563 of 5 June 1992, shall be governed by the provisions contained in this decree. Art. 2. The Programs objective is to establish a model for the sustainable development of Brazilian tropical forests, consisting of a set of plans for integrated execution by the federal, state and municipal governments and organized civil society, with the technical and financial support of the international community.
