COMMISSION REGULATION (EC) No 629/2008of 2 July 2008amending Regulation (EC) No 1881/2006 setting maximum levels for certain contaminants infoodstuffs(Text with EEA relevance)THE COMMISSION OF THE EUROPEAN COMMUNITIES,Having regard to the Treaty establishing the EuropeanCommunity,Having regard to Council Regulation (EEC) No 315/93 of8 February 1993 laying down Community procedures forcontaminants in food (1), and in particular Article 2(3) thereof,Whereas:(1) Commission Regulation (EC) No 1881/2006 (2) setsmaximum levels for certain contaminants in foodstuffs,including maximum levels for the metals lead, cadmiumand mercury.(2) It is essential, in order to protect public health, to keepcontaminants at levels which do not cause healthconcerns.
