Ministryof Environment and Forests Notification New Delhi, the10th January, 2003 G.S.R.23(E):- In exercise of the powersconferred by sub-section (1) of section 4 of the Forest (Conservation) Act,1980 (69 of 1980), and in super session of the Forest (Conservation) Rules,1981, except as respects things done or omitted to be done before such supersession, the Central Government hereby makes the following rules, namely:- 1. Short title, extent and commencement.- These rules may be called the Forest (Conservation) Rules, 2003. They shall extend to the whole of India except the State of Jammu and Kashmir. They shall come into force on the date oftheir publication in the Official Gazette. 2.
