Short Title and commencement---(l) Ths Act may be cited as the Trade in Endangered Species Act 1989. (2) Ths Act shall come into force on the 1st day of June 1989. 2. Object of Act---The object of ths Act is to enable New Zealand to fulfil its obligations under the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora and to promote the management, conservation, and protection of endangered, threatened, and exploited species to fwther enhance the survival of those species. 3.
