(1) This Act regulates the social relations associated with:1. the contained use of genetically modified organisms (GMOs);2. the deliberate release of GMOs into the environment;3. the placing on the market of a GMO or of a combination of GMOs as or in products;4. the transfer of GMOs; 5. the import, export and transit of GMOs;6. the control over the activities covered under Items 1 to 5.(2) This Act shall have as its objective to protect human health and the environment when carrying out the activities covered under Paragraph (1) in accordance with the precautionary principle, which means priority protection of human health and the environment if any potential harmful effects are likely to be realized, regardless of the existing economic interests or the unavailability of sufficient scientific data.Article 2.
