Part VIIIIPartVIIIILandand Works PowersIPowersof the AuthorityProvisionsin relation to landCompulsory purchase etc. 154.—(1) The Authority may be authorised by either of the Ministers topurchase compulsorily any land anywhere in England and Wales which is requiredby the Authority for the purposes of, or in connection with, the carrying outof its functions.(2) The power of each of the Ministers under subsection (1) above shall includepower— (a) to authorisethe acquisition of interests in, and rights over, land by the creation of newinterests and rights; and(b) byauthorising the acquisition by the Authority of any rights over land which isto be or has been acquired by the Authority, to provide for the extinguishmentof those rights.(3) Without prejudice to the generality ofsubsection (1) above, the land which the Authority may be authorised under thatsubsection to purchase compulsorily shall include land which is or will berequired for the purpose of being given in exchange for, or for an...
