我非常高兴看到这卷澳大利亚环境法汇编被翻译成中文。澳大利亚非常注重环境保护。我们为自己在这方面的表现感到骄傲。我们的环境法为环境保护和环境管理政策的实施提供了法律框架。

Ambassador’s message
I am delighted to see this collection of Australian environmental legislation translated into Chinese. Australia takes environmental protection very seriously, and is proud of its environmental record. Our environmental legislation provides the legal framework for the implementation of environmental protection and environmental management policies.
The Australian Federal government takes a strongly consultative approach to environmental legislation and environmental policy, in particular working closely with the States and Territories who have primary carriage of many important policy areas affecting the environment. The Government also works with business and non-government organizations and seeks to ensure that stakeholders are consulted on important legislation affecting their interests. In this way, the Government hopes to ensure that legislation is fully and effectively implemented to the benefit of the environment.
Like many developing countries, China faces enormous environmental challenges, which in themselves can have a significant impact on economic growth, and public health and welfare. We welcome the efforts by the Chinese government to address these issues, including from studying the experiences of other countries. Australia stands ready to support these efforts.
I hope that this collection of Australian legislation will be of use to Chinese environmental legislators, officials and practitioners in meeting the significant challenges of environmental protection in this fast-growing, developing economy.
